WWII Leather Liner Strap With Flat Green Steel Buckle

Sold
$125.00 —

Description

This is an original early-WWII leather liner strap. The leather exhibits some slght surface cracking throughout, but remains quite soft and supple. The green painted steel buckle is the early variety with the flat lip, dating the strap's production from late-1942 to mid-1943. The buckle's underside exhibits an anchor stamp, which is well documented and explained on page 104 of The M-1 Helmet of the World War II GI. It features the rare brown-painted steel United Carr rivets. This would be an ideal strap for a helmet liner with non-painted steel A-washers (including Hawleys and St. Clairs).
