Early-WWII Fixed Loop M1 Helmet & St. Clair Liner (1942 Set)

$475.00 —

Description

This well-worn WWII M1 helmet set would serve as an excellent addition to a Pacific Theatre of Operations display. The McCord manufactured helmet shell's heat stamp of 85C dates its production to February 1942. It retains its original, and excellently patinated, factory finish, cork texture, and khaki chinstraps. The chinstraps exhibit an original field repair, utilizing steel rivets. The helmet's early style fixed loops are strong and intact, however there are a few stress cracks throughout. The helmet has recently been paired with an original low pressure St. Clair manufactured liner. It features steel rectangular washers, a torn first pattern rayon suspension, remnants of a stationary leather liner strap, and a green-painted interior. These early characteristics date the liner's production from April to May 1942 - the only two months in which liners with green painted interiors were being produced, making this an exceptionally rare item. It comes complete with its original khaki headband and neckband. The liner's exterior showcases its original smooth flat olive drab factory finish.
