Description
Here's a very difficult to find Japanese WWII Type 30 bayonet made at the MUKDEN Arsenal under Japanese occupation. Mukden, which is now called Shenyang, is in eastern China, north of what is now North Korea. During World War II, this area was occupied by the Japanese. The Mukden Arsenal was converted to arms production for Japan, including bayonets. Like Japanese bayonets made at Jinsen in Korea, Japanese bayonets made at Mukden in China, are much more difficult to acquire than bayonets made on the Japanese mainland. This rare bayonet will fit on all Japanese Arisaka rifles. This bayonet is transitional. It was made without a hooked guard, but with a birds head pommel & steel scabbard. The blade is blued. The wooden grips are tight and firmly affixed with screws and washers. This method of attaching the grips predates rivets, which were used later in the war. The pommel is typical, mid-war, bird head style. The push button operates smoothly as it should.
