Viet Cong Main Force Purple Trousers with ARVN Flag Pockets

Here is a very rare and interesting pair of purple cotton Viet Cong main force trousers partially made with an RVN cotton flag. These are made in the standard VC main force style with pleated front and back, one rear pocket, button fly with three opposing waist buttons. As you can see, buttons on the fly are the plastic deep dish style buttons, often seen on Viet Cong clothing, as well as uniforms made in the north. What is most interesting about these trousers is that, like another pair of VC Main force trousers we have, the pockets were made from an ARVN flag. In fact, the RVN flag that was used to make one of the pockets has the manufacturer's name & address in Saigon. This would have been printed upon RVN flag itself. In true entrepreneurial fashion, the name of the Flag-maker is simply “To Save.”
