Most of these you see are bevo. This one is embroidered, not BEVO woven, which is the first way these rates were made. These rates replaced the blue winter and white summer rates and were worn on all IJN uniforms, including the Special Naval Landing Force and by Enlisted Pilots and Aircrew members.
