WW2 Japanese Pilots Floating Distress Float Flag

This is a rare accessories carried by all pilots operating over water. This is a telescoping flag with kapok sewn into the four edges to make the flag float in case the pilot went in the ocean. It was carried in the flight suit. Flag measures 38 x 30 unfolded. When folded and retracted the whole assembly is about 8 inches long.
