Sold
$750.00

Description

Original era manufacture. A very sound example of the War of 1812 pattern Nathan Starr contract sword.Curved, polished steel blade measuring 34 inches in length. The blade is quite nice, it hasn't been cleaned in ages, with only one or two shallow nicks in the cutting edge, no corrosion issues to report.Marked on the ricasso P (Proved) HHP (Henry H. Perkin Inspector) and STARR below. Dark steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, with a carved wooden grip, with about 70% of the original leather remaining.Sheet steel scabbard with two suspension rings, very minor surface denting, and a matching patina finish to the guard. The blade draws easily from the scabbard. All in all a very nice example of a 200 year old sword.
