Description

In a very good condition a Chilean heavy cavalry sword Maker marked on the spine the saber 'Manufacture d'armes de Châtellerault JH'. This means it has been made by the French state sword maker Châtellerault and JH stands for Jacob Holtzer, who was the supplier of the steel. The Saber was exported to Chile which can be seen by the stamp on the ricasso which is the crest of Chile. On the otherside of the ricasso the stamps B and C are in circles. These are French inspector stamps from J.F.J. Beauret or J.M.Brenier, and B.F.J.Camps, L.M.E.Château or E.C.Clémenceau. But one common indicator is the timeframe which positions this sword from around 1891-93. The grip is made of hardened rubber, the guard has been marked with P1 419. The scabbard has a marking of 49. The scabbard has also the inspector marks B and C in circles. The sword has been used so there are a number of dents on the blade and some pitting. but that also gives it charm. Overall the sword and blade are in excellent condtion. The sword has been made around the civil war which was during 1891 in the country. More photos are available!
