In a very good condition a Hesse-Darmstadt, General Badge of Honor for Bravery 1894 Silver plated war metal medal with war ribbon. First donated by Grand Duke Ludwig II on September 25, 1843, this medal was awarded in 3 award periods with the respective portrait of the ruler. The first wore the portrait of Ludwig III. from 1849, then the portrait of Ludwig IV from 1889 and the medal shown here with the picture of Ernst Ludwig from 1894, the last ruler. This award was given for merit and extraordinary achievements. The silver content decreased towards the end of the First World War and from 1918 these medals were made of silver-plated war metal. Round, silver medal with a raised edge. A soldered eyelet with a band ring at the top. Frontside: In the middle the portrait of Ernst Ludwig looking to the left The writing around the edge: - ERNST - LUDWIG - GROSDUKE - VON - HESSEN - Backside: Für Tapferkeit Surrounded by a round wreath tied at the bottom with a bow. Oak leaves on the right, laurel leaves on the left. Ribbons: Ribbon 1 AEZ: light blue 35 mm, edges 1 mm, edge stripes red 3 mm. Ribbon 2 war ribbon: light blue 36 mm, edges 2 mm, edge strips red 6 mm
