Description
Original era manufacture. SE64 marked M1935 Heer helmet, with a post production thick combat paint application to the exterior surface. The eagle decal was spared the slathering of paint, and remains as shown. The interior finish displays a thin surface corrosion mixed with paint, making the lot number difficult to read, but the makers code is fairly clear. The liner band and felt remain, with only fragments of the leather hanging on for dear life. All three rivets remain, with their appropriate slot-washers in place. For some reason, the heads of each of the rivets have been flattened, perhaps to allow the paint to adhere better, who knows? There is a faint splotch of dark gray garage paint dripping down from the crown on the left side. This can be seen in the photos of the decal, not really noticeable when in hand as the overpaint is quite dark as well. Sound old helmet with a been-there look.
