Description

In a very good condition a Sachsen memorial cross for combatans. This memorial cross was donated by King Johann on May 22, 1867. The award was given to all fighters and non-fighters who took part in the war against Prussia who died in the war. Saxony fought on the side of Austria, Bavaria, Württemberg and their allies, the German Confederation. The victory of the Prussian allies resulted in Prussia's dominance in Germany. Many individual states entered into a military convention with Prussia. Austria says goodbye to all German politics and the North German Confederation was founded. The crosses for combatans and non-combatans differ only in the ribbon awarded. Combatans have 4 yellow and 3 blue stripes, non-combatans 3 yellow and 4 blue stripes.
