This is the standard holster for the Type 14 8mm Nambu pistol carried by Japanese Army & Navy Officer's in WW2. These were also issued to machine-gunners, pilots, tank crew members and others. This one has great Kanji markings indicating it was made in Showa 14 (1939) at the Nagoya Arsenal. At the time this holster was made the Japan China War was well underway and the Empire was preparing for what would shortly become WW2. The pouch under the flap held spare 8mm ammo in 15 round boxes.
