WW2 German M35 Double Decal Camouflage Helmet

An M35 Luftwaffe double decal camouflage helmet which was overpainted in green over its Luftwaffe blue factory paint then segmented with thick brown brush strokes to break up the pattern. This dark green & brown camouflage paint is quite typically ( although not exclusively ) found on earlier helmets differing from the more well known 'Normandy camouflage' which is of a lighter pattern. It is clear that the paint here has been applied with a brush the reddish brown being quite thick in places particularly to the rear. To the left side of this 'NS' helmet is a second pattern Luftwaffe decal distinctive & solely exclusive to the NS maker with the toe of the talon intruding less than any of the other decals seen used by other makers. With national tricolour shield to right. Underside of shell has smooth blue factory paint with maker & size 'NS66' . Lot number to rear ' D119' . The early aluminium liner band is 1937 dated & has never been reinforced. Brown chinstrap is typical Luftwaffe issue colour with maker ' A.Reichel,Lengefeld' with '1936' date. Leather liner shows wear with original drawstring still in place .
