Luftwaffe M40 SD Camouflaged Helmet

Luftwaffe M40 Single Decal Camouflage Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its three-tone tan/brown/green camouflage overpaint, a Luftwaffe decal is clearly visible beneath the paint. There is some slight surface rust visible. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is a M31 leather liner with all eight fingers intact and the original liner cord is present as well, the leather is in good condition, see photos. The shell is marked with maker and size 'Q62'. 'Q' is indicating production by the company of 'F.W. Quist, G.m.b.H.' in Esslingen. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number '458'. This helmet is a true 'Woodwork' find and was not part of a collection before, this helmet was found in a housecleaning and is in untouched and uncleaned condition as found.
