British Officers Small Pattern Map Case

Smaller pattern private purchase map case in tan canvas with leather trim and support straps with brass Sam Browne type clip for attaching to other equipment. Newey press stud closure on both sides, one flap covers pencils and concealed pocket, the other flap closes the fold out map cover. Very good used condition, still contains some utility marked pencils, approx 28x19cms. Often referred to as Airborne or Commando they can be seen in period military equipment advertising as 'suitable for cavalry and armoured troops'.
