Unknown Mexican Wars Era Flintlock Conversion

This huge pistol was purchased in Texas some 40 years ago by a collector and is typical of the large calibre pistols used by both the Mexican Army and the Americans. These were converted from flintlock to percussion and were converted from numerous flintlocks including French Model 1822 pistols that this one is very similar to. The pistol has a strong lock and the ramrod is extant. There are no visible marks and the pistol merits further research.
