US Civil War M1858 Tarred Linen Infantry Knapsack, R.Valentine Inspector

Original era manufacture. A tarred or painted linen knapsack issued to Federal Infantrymen during the Civil War 1861-1865. This example shows the typical fabric tears and separation encountered with these old things, however it remains remarkably complete, and quite pliable for its age. It just needs some acid free stuffing material and this will be quite sound for display.
