Description

A scarce original First World War period 'Fort Garry Horse sweetheart brooch'; heavy gold fronted maple leaf badge engraved with the 'Fort Garry Gate' and mounted on a 1912 Officer's pattern style sword, the reverse impressed 'Sterling' and with maker's details 'A.Bros'(Ahronsberg Brothers Birmingham). Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, complete with all of the gold plating to the front of the badge. Width 51mm. Height 18mm. The Fort Garry Horse raised 1912 as the '34th Regiment of Cavalry'. It was re-designated the '34th Fort Garry Horse' in 1913 and the 'Fort Garry Horse' in 1920. ALL BROOCHES ARE SUPPLIED WITH A BRAND NEW BLACK PLUSH LINED PRESENTATION BOX.
