Irish UVF Model 1874 Gras Bayonet ----Modified to fit German Gew. 88 Rifle as Supplied in 1914 : This is a Very Rare Mle 1874 Gras Bayonet supplied in 1914 by the Germans (to stir up trouble on the Irish Front) to the Ulster Volunteer Force during the 'Home Rule Crisis.' This Type of Conversion was made to fit the German Gew. 88 conversion, also supplied at the same time. . The press stud was altered by inserting a small steel extension piece. Check out for the full history of these bayonets. They are quite rare and hold a special place in the History of the Irish. Condition: Photos show the condition well. It is in very nice condition with the press stud complete and workable. Mounts perfectly on a Gew.88 rifle. A beautiful and rare example in great condition.
