A very scarce original First World War period 'North British Locomotive Co Ltd war workers lapel badge' who produced 1,400 locomotives during the war, in the form of a gilt brass blue enamel title surround 'FOR BRITISH ADMIRALTY, WAR OFFICE & FRENCH GOVT', the centre displaying a Scottish Thistle over a 'WAR WORK' ribbon scroll with 'NORTH BRITISH LOCO. COY. LTD' below. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright. Diameter 28mm.
