British War Medal, named to: 47969 L.SJT.E.UNDERWOOD.15-CAN.INF Medal good very fine, dark toned 47969 Lance Sergeant Edward Underwood,15th Bn., Canadian Infantry was killed in action on 2nd March 1917.The Son of John and Mary Alice Underwood, of 76,Poolstock Lane, Wigan. He is buried in the Hersin Communal Cemetery extension. He had previously been wounded (gunshot wound to the knee) Comes with a copied photo of Underwood and a photo of his grave and Cemetery. He was born in 1894-trade given as a Book-keeper. Comes with Canadian Expeditionary Force attestation papers, war diaries, census returns, etc., further research.
