Description

A good original First World War period silver French Third Republic coin identification tag, the tail side polished flat and engraved with a representation of the 'Army Service Corp cap badge, inscribed to the edge'169526. S. SKIRROW. 36. S.B.A.C.' the head side displaying the 'La Semeuse' (the Sower) and designer details 'O.Roty' (Oscar Roty). Good condition. Diameter 27mm. Private Samuel Skirrow enlisted into the Army Service Corps landing in France after the 1st January 1916 and was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal. Whilst in France he served with the 36th Siege Battery Ammunition Column. The 36th operated the 8 Howitzer Artillery piece and was part of the 78th Bde RGA
