Description

A scarce original circa 1905 -1921 sheet brass SMALL pattern fleur-de-lys 1st Class sleeve badge, chosen by Colonel Baden Powell when he introduced scouting in the Army whilst out in South Africa commanding the 5th Dragoon Guards circa 1897. The first official mention traced is in Army Order of 1905. This example was worn by Army Scout 1st Class. Very good condition, minimal service wear, retaining original two loop fittings and split pin. Height 44mm. The 'Baden Powell Trained Army Scouts' badge first official mention traced is in Army Order of 1905. it was abolished in 1921.
