£120.00

Description

A scarce original 'National Savings Movement' circa 1916 'National War Savings Committee For Service lapel badge'; circular gilt example, the centre inappropriately depicting a swastika symbol subsequently abandoned by the committee; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Thomas Fattorini Birmingham Ltd'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel. Diameter 29mm. The National Savings Movement was established in 1916, to both reduce borrowing and to raise funds for the war effort. It continued until 1978 when it was dropped, due to lack of financial support from the government and the banking industry.
