Up Narkover Will Hay film and stage comedian badge c1935

A scarce original circa1935 'Up Narkover gilt and enamel pin badge'; small size shield, divided into four, depicting a pick, a shovel, handcuffs and prison uniform broad arrows; the reverse with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright. Height approx 22mm. This badge relates to the 1935 film 'Boys Will Be Boys' in which 'Will Hay who was a former teacher in a prison applies and becomes Headmaster of Narkover, a public school of roguery.
