A good original circa pre-1949 period 'National Fire brigades Association lapel badge'; circular gilt brass blue enamel title strap, enamelled 'Union Jack' to centre within green laurel wreath; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London'. Good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, enamel intact, originally silver plated at one time. Diameter 27mm. In 1918 the 'Fire Brigade Union' was formed, later to become the National 'Fire Brigades Association' it amalgamated in 1949 with the 'Professional Fire Brigades Association' to become the 'British Fire Services Association' both proffessional organisations as opposed to a Trade Union'.
