Lord Mayor Treloar Cripples Home & College nurses hospital badge

A scarce original circa 1908 to 1920 period 'Lord Mayor Treloar Cripples' Home & College nurses hospital gilt and enamel award badge' the reverse embossed with facsimile signature of Queen Alexandra. Very good condition, complete with original silk ribbon with small defect and 'Queen Alexandra League of Children' suspension bar with pin fittings, no stress mark or damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright. Height approx 97mm. The hospital was originally called the Princess Louise Military Hospital and was built for the returning casualties of the Boer War (1899- 1902).
