WW2 National Pigeon Service badge RAF Army and Special Forces

A rare ORIGINAL Second World War period 'National Pigeon Service gilt and enamel badge', the reverse with maker's details in relief 'J.R.Gaunt London' and impressed with official issue number '15930'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, no damage to the enamel. Height 25mm. Trained homing pigeons lent by their enrolled civilian keepers for essential use by the RAF, Army, Home Guard, SOE and Special Forces to relay urgent messages back to England.
