A rare original Christmas 1900 Tin 'Presented To The Scottish Soldiers In South Africa By The Scottish Regiment Gift Fund'. Attractive yellow tin bearing large coloured central thistle, 'Lion Rampant of Scotland' inscribed 'Frae Scots tae Scots' 'South Africa 1900' and 'For Auld Lang Syne'; accompanied by an official Presentation Card from the Gift Fund, also a hand written note in pencil 'A present from South Africa Christmas 1900 Wishing you all a very merry Chrismas & happy New Year' the reverse signed 'Tom Gerrard Scots Guards'. Good condition. Size 101 x 84mm. Attributed to 2012 Private Thomas Gerrard who served with the 1st and 3rd Battalions of the Scots Guards during the Boer War. He was awarded the Queen's South Africa Medal with the clasps Belmont, Modder River and Driefontein.
