Description

A very good ORIGINAL circa 1940's period silver plated example, depicting Neptune in his chariot drawn by four sea horses in relief, with red enamel title 'GEORGES LEYGUES' and signed 'GUIRAUD' the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Arthur Bertrand Paris Depose'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel. Size 25 x 24mm. Georges Leygues was a French light cruiser of the La Galissonnière class. During World War II, she served with both Vichy France and Allies. Launched 1936. Commissioned 1937. Decommissioned 1957.
