Civil Defence Long Service Medal and Case 1961 to 1968

A good original full sized 'Civil Defence Long Service Medal' institued in 1961 for those who had completed 15 years service in the Civil Defence organisations.; Cupro-nickel example unnamed as issued, the obverse portraying the head and shoulders of Queen Elizabeth II; the reverse with three embossed shields bearing the initials 'CD' Civil Defence, 'AFS' Auxiliary Fire Service, and 'NHSR' National Hospital Service Reserve. Very good condition, complete with ribbon and pin fitting, housed in its velvet lined fitted case, named to the lid. In 1968 a new version was issued with the reverse inscribed 'CIVIL DEFENCE' and LONG SERVICE';
