A scarce original silver award designed by 'Percy Metcalfe' for the 'National Rifle Association King's Trophy Competition':The obverse depicts an embossed figure of Herakles, the Greek hero of superhuman strength kneeling and aiming his bow; the reverse in relief.'THE KING'S TROPHY inscribed: 'PRESENTED BY THE KING TO ENCOURAGE YOUTH IN THE HOPE THAT FRIENDLY COMPETITION AND EFFICIENT TRAINING MAY HELP IT TO FORGE NEW LINKS OF EMPIRE'. This award has been engraved to the recipient 'CADET J. RICHARDS 1ST MONS. CADET BN. C.L.B. POSSIBLE SCORE, 100 1934'. (Welsh 1st Monmouth Cadet Battalion CHURCH LADS BRIGADE). Very good condition, housed in its original velvet lined fitted leather case.
