Description

RARE A-8 Flying helmet, in mint unused condition. At the beginning of WWII, remaining stocks of the A-8, Helmet, were factory modified to accept the A-9 A-10 standard mask, by installing 4-5 oxygen mask hooks, and cutting and reshaping the sides to provide a better fit for the mask, and replacing the chincup, with the fleece covered chinstrap. This is one of them.Three goggle retaining strap, two with unpainted snaps. The label reads.Type A-8 DWGNo. 33 -5979-3MFR. S.A.A.D.LARGESan Antonio Air Depot,Leather/ sheepskin chinstrap, is in excellent condition, with no issues, only the neck draw string for adjustment, is present, as the 'reshaping' of the sides, meant the facial one wouldn't function.Very rare early war flying helmet, that would be very difficult to upgrade.S/N 508price includes postage to UK mainland onlyThe head is not included in the sale.
