Description

A scarce original circa 1953 post-war period 'Home Guard badge'; small white metal Crowned Order of the Garter bearing 'Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense' motto, with embossed 'HG' initials to the centre, the reverse complete with original lapel horseshoe style fitting to be worn by a gentleman member in his civilian attire. Very good condition. Height 26mm. Home Guard buttonhole badge was an official issue lapel badge, for wear with civilian clothes, it became available in April 1953, a version with pin fittings been added in 1954 when women were enrolled, no version with a Queen's Crown seems to have been manufactured.
