WW1 Newcastle Upon Tyne Special Constable police badge

A rare original First World War period 'Newcastle Upon Tyne Special Constable gilt and enamel badge'; blue enamel title circlet with embossed Coat of Arms to seeded centre bearing the motto ' 'Fortiter Defendit Triumphans' (Triumphing by brave defence). Very good condition, complete with original early style round pattern lapel fitting, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright, an excellent example. Diameter 32mm.
