Royal Mail Steam Packet Co or Royal Mail Lines House Flag officers badge

A rare original circa pre-war 'Royal Mail Steam Packet Company or Royal Mail Lines officer's badge'; large heavy substantially made convex gilt and enamel example bearing the companies house flag with King George V or George VI crown to the centre, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London'. Very good condition, complete with central screw post and nut, equipped with additional pair of pins to prevent swivelling, no stress marks or damage to the enamel. An excellent example. Height 30mm. The 'Royal Mail Steam Packet Company' was founded in 1839. The company was liquidated and its assets taken over by the newly formed Royal Mail Lines in 1932.
