St Helens Special Constable police badge

A scarce original circa 1930's period 'St Helens Special Constable lapel badge'; large Victorian Crowned gilt brass title circlet, inlaid with blue enamel, the centre bearing embossed enamelled 'Arms of St Helens' with motto 'Ex Terra Lucem' (Light out of the earth) granted in 1876; the reverse with maker's details 'Fattorini & Sons Ltd Bradford Works Birmingham' (an address format used between 1933 and 1939) and impressed with official low issue number '18'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright. Height 45mm.
