Womens Voluntary Service WVS armband service stripes badge

A scarce original circa 1943 period 'Womens Voluntary Service armband '; quickly put together stitched grey felt armlet, bearing crowned 'WVS' maroon silk cotton embroidered initials, three year service stripes and WVS Civil Defence badge. Good condition, colour remains bright, MOTH specks front and back. Width approx 86mm. Introduced in 1943 for non uniformed members and used as a form of identification.
