WW1 West Sussex Special Constable police badge

A good original First World War period 'West Sussex Special Constable lapel badge'; gilt and blue enamel title surround, convex gilt button style centre with ornate embossed shield bearing six Martlets mythical birds from the County Arms; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt & Son London'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, no stress marks or damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright, an excellent example. Diameter 36mm.
