Red Funnel Line Royal Mail Steam Packet Company flag anchor badge

A scarce original circa 1940's period 'Red Funnel Line stunning coloured enamel gilt brass pin badge', the company house flag in white, green, red and blue enamels, mounted to the centre of a blue enamel anchor. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no stress marks or damage to the enamel. Height 41mm. Founded in 1861, originally operated a paddle steamer ferry service between Cowes, Isle of Wight and Southampton.The house flag was inspired by the names of the early steamers, 'Sapphire' 'Emerald' 'Ruby' and 'Pearl'.
