A good original wartime period 'Voluntary Workers For The Forces pin badge'; circular chromium plated example inlaid with red enamel, surmounted by the Lion of England, the centre with intertwined 'VW' (Voluntary Workers) initials with 'For the Forces' below; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London' and official issue number '51596'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel. Height 29mm. Voluntary Workers For The Forces was approved by the War Office in 1940, member's would have to complete three months work before they could qualify for the badge.
