Description

A scarce original Great War period 'Coventry Ordnance Works Ltd Special War Service badge' brass circular example bearing embossed title surround with 'Heavy Artillery Field Gun' to the centre; the reverse with individually struck official issue number '6346'. Very good condition, complete with an old replacement buttonhole fitting. Diameter 29mm. 'Coventry Ordnance Works Limited' was formed in 1905 by a consortium of shipbuilding firms John Brown, Yarrow, Cammell Laird and Fairfield, during the First World War they manufactured heavy artillery guns for the British Army and the Royal Navy. They closed in 1925.
