Description

A rare original possibly unique 1918 First World War silver watch fob in the form of a medallion bearing an embossed 'Artillery Gun' flanked by a backward facing Swastika either side with scroll inscribed below '1917 - 1919 BEF' (British Expeditionary Force) within title surround; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1918 and maker's details 'AJP&Co Ld' (A J Pepper & Co Frederick Street, Birmingham). Very good condition, complete with original ring suspension fitting. Diameter 26mm. The 'Swastika' an ancient symbol representing Happiness' was a lucky charm at the time of the First World War, it was disassociated with in the mid 1930's in England.
