WW2 National Savings plastic economy issue pin badge

Sold
£15.00

Description

A good original wartime period 'National Savings golden brown plastic economy badge', issued after 1942 due to metal shortage. Very good condition, complete with original single stick pin fitting, no warping, cracks or distortions, colour remains good. An excellent example. Height of front 32mm. In March 1940 permission was obtained from H.M. The King to incorporate the crown into a National Savings emblem, designed to give the movement a more distinct identity. This was subsequently used extensively on all forms of publicity from leaflets to flags. See: 'DOING THEIR BIT' HOME FRONT LAPEL BADGES 1939 - 1945 by Jon Mills.
