Norland Nannies nursery nurse faithful service badge

A very scarce original circa 1938 vintage period 'Norland Nanny badge', fine quality example in the form of a heart bearing art nouveau enbossed decoration, the centre displaying a flower head handpainted in the finest translucent enamelling, with the college's motto, 'LOVE NEVER FAILETH' below, the suspension pin bar with Latin motto 'fortis in arduis' (strong in difficulties); the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1938, maker's details 'J.W.T.' (J W Tiptaft & Son Ltd) and inscribed 'Norland Institute Award of Highest Merit to Mary Emslie For Not Less Than 5 Years Faithful Work 3 Being Under One Employer' 1937 - 1943'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, enamel perfect, an excellent example. Height 48mm.
