Description

A rare original circa 1960's British United Traction lapel badge'; small silver plated example inlaid with dark red enamel, depicting the very stylish 'BUT' logo, with additional oblong scroll below 'Diesel Rail Power'; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'FATTORINI & SONS LD 36 BARR ST B'HAM' . Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, no damage to the enamel. Height 27mm. British United Traction was established in 1946 and was a major supplier of diesel engines for British Rail's first-generation diesel multiple units, branded AEC and Leyland. It was defunct in 1964
