A scarce original '1952 Finland Summer Olympic Games silver Merit Medal' the edge bearing Finnish silver halmarks, Crown, '916H' and 'Y6' for 1952; contained in its original card case with presentation card inscribed 'Tillander by Appointment, Jewellers To H.M.King Gustaf VI Adolf' 'Helsinki - Aleksanterinkatu 50' 'Helsingfors - Alexandersgatan 50' 'Finland'. Very good condition, complete with original silk ribbon, small edge knock. Diameter 32mm. The 1952 Summer Olympics officially known as the Games of the XV Olympiad, was an international multi-sport event held in Helsinki, Finland from July 19 to August 3 1952. The Merit Medal were officially awarded to coaches, trainers, officials of the Organizing Committee and managers of the Finnish Sporting Federation etc, in all only 2000 were presented 1732 in Finland and 268 abroad.
