Scandinavian Airlines System gilt airline pilots badge

A scarce original circa 1946 period 'Scandinavian Airlines System cap badge'; huge gilded brass wing mounted with convex disc to the centre via the early feature style nut and bolt device and bearing three Crowned coloured enamel shields of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Very good condition, the reverse complete with two original small screw post and nut fixings, enamel perfect, minimal wear to gilt finish. Width 121mm. 'Scandinavian Airlines System' was formed in 1946 from the merging of three airline companies 'Svensk Interkcontinental Lufttrafik', 'Det Danske Luftfartselskab' and 'Det Norske Luftfartselskap'.
