A scarce original turn of the 20th century magnificent 'Scottish Clans Association of London badge'; gilded brass example in the form of a large title strap inlaid with blue enamel, the centre bearing a crowned shield depicting 'St. Andrew and his cross' flanked by a Highland soldier and Scottish lion upon a spray of thistles. Excellent condition, complete with original pin fittings, enamel perfect, gilt finish remains bright. Diameter 32mm. 'The Scottish Clans Association of London' was founded in 1898 to promote the study of Gaelic and the wearing of Highland dress.They were responsible for organising the Grand Annual 'Burns' Night Scottish Concert' at the Royal Albert Hall, London. They federated in 1939.
