French Pre WWI, Dark Blue Fatigue Jacket, 1888 Dated

Original era manufacture. Waist length, dark blue wool jacket, with red wool 2's stitched to collar patches of basic cloth (dark blue, correct for Foreign Legion) then sewn directly to the collar. Foreign Legion buttons throughout, including the securing button for the leather lined, wool bayonet support strap. Heavy white cotton lining with numerous French issue markings, including a circular one from the Nantes Depot, marked 3rd Quarter 1888. In addition, several costume house markings can be seen. Size is a 36 long. Overall the material is in clean condition, with a two inch repair on the chest visible on the left side. Thank goodness for the costume houses, they were the ones who saved many of these old uniforms we collectors enjoy so much from the rag-pickers.
